Things to Do

There are so many things to do in this area! Here, we list just a few.

Take the Walking Tour of Stanley

The Historic Walking Tour of Stanley brings to life some of the area’s earlier citizens, as well as the rich history of trapping, mining, grazing, and now outdoor recreation and tourism.

Walk and Picnic by Stanley Lake

For an easier walk, try heading out of town to walk around Stanley Lake, where you’ll find quiet spots to have a picnic, as well has family-friendly beaches from which to swim.

Stop at Redfish Lake Visitor Center

Redfish Lake, the largest lake in the Sawtooth Mountains, is located 5 miles south of Stanley. It is named for the brilliant sockeye salmon that once came to spawn in such massive quantities that the lake appeared red.
